Jill Scott Returns After Decade
Jill Scott has made a triumphant return with the video for her new single "Pressha." This marks her first major release after more than a decade away from the studio, and the visuals signal a confident, soulful comeback that has longtime fans excited for her upcoming album.
Jill Scott's last studio album, "Woman," was released in 2015, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. The new project is her sixth studio album and her first full-length release in over a decade. The new 19-track album is titled "To Whom This May Concern" and was released on February 13, 2026. Its lead single is titled "Beautiful People." The project features a number of high-profile collaborators, including rappers Ab-Soul, J.I.D, Too $hort, and fellow Philadelphia native Tierra Whack. Production on the album was handled by a team that includes DJ Premier, Adam Blackstone, and Camper. During her time away from recording, Scott remained active as an actress. She has starred in the BET+ series "First Wives Club" since 2019 and played the villain Lady Eve in the DC Comics series "Black Lightning" from 2018 to 2020. Her film and television work during this period also includes portraying James Brown's second wife, Deidre "Dee Dee" Jenkins, in the 2014 biopic "Get On Up." She previously starred in the HBO series "The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency." In May 2020, Scott's cultural impact was highlighted during a Verzuz battle with Erykah Badu. The event attracted more than 700,000 viewers, including notable figures like Michelle Obama, Spike Lee, and Janet Jackson.
