Sorn hits three stars

- Sorn in Thailand is profiled as the first and only restaurant in Southeast Asia with three Michelin stars. (aseanrecords.world) - The piece frames Sorn as a regional landmark for Michelin prestige and culinary recognition. (aseanrecords.world) - That status differentiates Thailand’s dining scene in the Michelin conversation across Southeast Asia. (aseanrecords.world)

Sorn in Bangkok became Thailand’s first three-Michelin-star restaurant in November 2024, and Michelin still lists it at three stars in the 2026 Thailand guide. (guide.michelin.com 1) (guide.michelin.com 2) Michelin announced the promotion in the 2025 Michelin Guide Thailand on November 28, 2024. That edition counted 462 venues in all: 1 three-star, 7 two-star, 28 one-star, 156 Bib Gourmand picks, and 270 Michelin Selected restaurants. (guide.michelin.com) (dgaddcosprod.blob.core.windows.net) The restaurant is led by chef-owner Supaksorn “Ice” Jongsiri and serves Southern Thai cuisine at 56 Soi Sukhumvit 26 in Bangkok’s Khlong Toei district. Michelin’s listing says the menu draws on ingredients such as Tapi River prawns, Phuket lobster, and Andaman squid. (guide.michelin.com) That made Sorn a milestone for Thailand, but not the only three-star restaurant in Southeast Asia. Michelin’s Singapore 2025 guide lists 3 three-star restaurants there: Les Amis, Odette, and Zén. (guide.michelin.com) (dgaddcosprod.blob.core.windows.net) The distinction is narrower and still significant: Sorn is the first restaurant in Thailand to reach three stars. Michelin’s Thailand release called the award “a significant and historic year” for the country’s place on the international dining map. (dgaddcosprod.blob.core.windows.net) Michelin also used the 2025 Thailand guide to spotlight changes beyond one restaurant. The guide added Chon Buri for the first time, with 20 entries, and highlighted more local sourcing and more Thai chefs opening modern Thai restaurants in their hometowns. (guide.michelin.com) (dgaddcosprod.blob.core.windows.net) Sorn’s Michelin page still warns that getting a table takes a “very thorough process,” a sign that the restaurant’s status has held after the initial promotion. For Thailand, the headline remains the same in 2026: the country now has a three-star restaurant, and its name is Sorn. (guide.michelin.com)
