Dubai’s spring art calendar is back on the move, with Art Dubai set for 15 to 17 May and a preview on 14 May after a postponement this month. (artdubai.ae) The fair will again be held at Madinat Jumeirah, but organizers are calling 2026 a “special edition” in a modified format. Art Dubai said the event will feature more than 75 presentations and galleries from nearly 20 countries across contemporary, modern and digital art. (artdubai.ae) (wam.ae) The schedule changed after regional tensions pushed the fair back by a few weeks from its usual spring slot. What’s On reported on April 23 that the fair had been “pushed back by a couple of weeks,” while Art Dubai’s official site now lists the new May dates. (whatson.ae) (artdubai.ae) That delay has shifted Dubai’s arts traffic into a longer runway instead of one concentrated fair weekend. DIFC Art Nights opens first, running from Thursday, April 23, to Sunday, April 26, at Gate Village in Dubai International Financial Centre. (difc.com) (msn.com) DIFC Art Nights is in its 21st edition and adds a film program this year alongside installations, panel talks, workshops and live performances. DIFC said Cineolio founder Nawaf Al Janahi will present five short films daily, and Christie’s Middle East and Dubai Culture will host a 7 p.m. panel on April 23 about the next generation of collectors. (difc.com) Dubai Culture is also using the week to push its own institutional presence inside the wider art circuit. Emirates News Agency said Dubai Culture is a strategic partner of Art Dubai’s special edition, and WAM reported the authority will also take part in DIFC Art Nights from April 23 to 26. (wam.ae) (msn.com) Art Dubai is framing the May fair around its 20-year history. The fair said this edition will foreground the galleries, institutions and communities that shaped the region’s art market, and What’s On reported that the program will include names such as Barjeel Art Foundation, Sharjah Art Foundation, Alserkal Avenue, Jameel Arts Centre and the National Pavilion UAE. (artdubai.ae) (whatson.ae) The weekend around the art events is also being sold as a broader city program, not just a fair visit. What’s On’s April 24 to 26 guide pitched Dubai’s weekend through yoga sessions, rooftop nights, markets and food-led outings, showing how the city’s art calendar now overlaps with hospitality and lifestyle programming. (whatson.ae) For visitors and collectors, the result is two beats instead of one: a free public art event in late April and the main fair in mid-May. After a disrupted start to the season, Dubai’s art institutions are still filling the calendar — just on a revised timetable. (difc.com) (artdubai.ae)
