Mieville's *Perdido Street Station* is another series lauded for its world-building. The New Crobuzon setting blends steampunk and gothic elements. Abercrombie's *The First Law* trilogy is a more recent example of grimdark fantasy. It's known for its morally grey characters and brutal realism.
