Metro 2039 teaser set

Metro 2039 is now official, and 4A Games says the first real look arrives Thursday, April 16, in an Xbox-hosted digital showcase. Xbox described the series as stories about survivors of nuclear devastation living in Moscow’s subway tunnels and the world above them. In a March 2025 anniversary update, the studio said it had “two triple-A projects in development” and that “the next Metro” was still in the works despite missile strikes and air-raid sirens affecting its Ukraine-based team. Metro Awakening, a virtual-reality spinoff developed by Vertigo Games and published by Deep Silver, launched in November 2024 as a prequel set in 2028.
