MJ Lee Launches Chester Murder Mystery

MJ Lee's *The Dead of Deva* launches featuring a shadowy body in Chester with detective Ridley chasing clues. The new mystery novel is gaining traction with 10 likes and 15 reposts on social media. Lee continues her detective series with this latest atmospheric thriller set in historic Chester.

*The Dead of Deva* is the fourth installment in M.J. Lee's crime thriller series centered on Detective Inspector Emma Christie. The series, set in Chester, began in 2024 with *The Coffin in the Wall*, followed by *Death on the Dee* and *The Bones of Chester*. The book's title alludes to Chester's ancient Roman name, Deva Victrix. Founded in the 70s AD, Deva was a Roman legionary fortress and a strategic base for the army. The name "Deva" is believed to be taken from the Celtic name for the River Dee, or the goddess of the river. While the DI Emma Christie series is set in Chester, author M.J. Lee is also known for several other popular detective series. These include the DI Ridpath series set in Manchester, the Jayne Sinclair Genealogical Mystery series, and the Inspector Danilov series set in 1920s and 30s Shanghai. The historic and sometimes dark past of Chester provides a rich backdrop for a murder mystery. The city's 2,000-year history includes periods of Roman occupation, battles between Welsh and Saxon kingdoms, and public executions.
