TCL Launches New Phones, Tablets at MWC
TCL is making a big splash at Mobile World Congress, unveiling a slate of new devices for the U.S. market. The company announced the TCL NXTPAPER 70 Pro phone, featuring its eye-friendly display technology, alongside a new lineup of tablets and CrystalClip open-ear earbuds.
TCL's push into the U.S. mobile market leverages its significant strength as a display manufacturer, where its subsidiary CSOT provides a key competitive advantage through vertical integration. The company, already the second-largest TV manufacturer globally, is now applying its focus on screen technology to differentiate its mobile and tablet offerings from a crowded field. The headline technology, NXTPAPER, aims to capture a health-conscious segment of the market by creating a paper-like, glare-free viewing experience designed to reduce eye strain. At MWC, TCL announced a major evolution, integrating this signature eye-care technology with vibrant AMOLED displays for the first time, addressing user demand for both visual comfort and high-end picture quality. The new TCL Note A1 NXTPAPER tablet is not an iPad competitor but a productivity-focused "e-note" device aimed at the niche market currently served by products like the reMarkable Paper Pro. It features an 11.5-inch paper-like screen and is paired with the T-Pen Pro, which boasts ultra-low latency and 8,192 levels of pressure sensitivity to closely mimic natural handwriting. For entertainment, the company is fielding the TCL TAB A1 Plus, which features a large 12.2-inch 2.4K display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and quad speakers. This device also integrates AI tools like Google Gemini and Circle to Search, signaling a broader trend of embedding artificial intelligence across TCL's product ecosystem. The CrystalClip earbuds represent a move into the "hearables" market with a design that doubles as a fashion accessory, featuring a special edition with detachable Swarovski crystals. Their open-ear design is engineered for users who need to maintain awareness of their surroundings, such as commuters or office workers. Beyond the unique design, the earbuds pack significant technology, including up to 36 hours of battery life with the charging case and a dual-mic system for clear calls. A key business-focused feature is the capability for powerful simultaneous interpretation when paired with compatible TCL AI phones and applications, breaking down language barriers in meetings or during travel.
