Historic UFC White House Card Announced

The UFC will hold its first-ever card at the White House, headlined by lightweight champion Ilia Topuria vs. Justin Gaethje, with Alex Pereira against Ciryl Gane as the co-main event. Dana White announced the full card, marking a landmark moment for MMA's cultural prominence and mainstream acceptance.

The friendship between UFC CEO Dana White and Donald Trump dates back to the early days of the promotion, when Trump hosted UFC events at his Taj Mahal casino in Atlantic City when other venues were hesitant. White has been a vocal supporter of Trump, speaking at the Republican National Convention and maintaining a close relationship throughout his presidency. This historic event on the White House South Lawn is part of the "America's 250th" birthday celebration. While championship teams have visited the White House since the 1860s, this marks the first time a live combat sports event of this magnitude will be held on the grounds, with fighters expected to walk out from the Oval Office. The main event features undefeated lightweight champion Ilia Topuria, who represents both Georgia and Spain and has met with leaders of both nations. He faces Justin Gaethje, a former interim champion known for his exciting fighting style and holding numerous "Fight of the Night" and "Performance of the Night" bonuses. In a highly anticipated co-main event, Alex Pereira will move up to the heavyweight division to fight Ciryl Gane for the interim title. Pereira is a former middleweight and light heavyweight champion and could become the first fighter in UFC history to win titles in three different weight classes. Gane is a former interim heavyweight champion from France, known for his technical striking. The rest of the six-fight card, officially titled "UFC Freedom 250," will feature several other high-stakes matchups. Former bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley will take on Aiemann Zahabi, while Michael Chandler is set to face Mauricio Ruffy in the lightweight division. The card is rounded out with a middleweight bout between Bo Nickal and Kyle Daukaus, and a featherweight fight featuring Diego Lopes against Steve Garcia.
