Paris Baguette Expands in Texas
Global bakery café chain Paris Baguette opened its newest location in Richardson, Texas, on February 27. The opening is part of the brand's rapid U.S. expansion, which includes over 4,000 units worldwide.
The Texas expansion is a significant step towards Paris Baguette's ambitious goal of reaching 1,000 locations across North America by 2030. To support this rapid growth, the company has broken ground on a massive 267,000-square-foot manufacturing and distribution facility in Burleson, Texas. This $200 million plant is expected to create approximately 450 local jobs and will supply fresh dough to its cafes across the continent. The brand's aggressive U.S. push is spearheaded by its parent company, the South Korean food and beverage giant SPC Group. Founded in 1945 as a small bakery named Sangmidang, SPC Group has grown into a global powerhouse with a portfolio that also includes the Baskin-Robbins and Dunkin' Donuts operations in Korea. Paris Baguette itself was launched in 1988 and has become South Korea's number one bakery chain. In the Texas market, Paris Baguette faces established bakery-café competitors. La Madeleine, a French-inspired chain founded in Dallas, has over 80 locations, with a strong presence in major Texas cities like Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio. Corner Bakery Cafe, another Dallas-headquartered chain, currently operates 28 locations throughout the state. The company's growth strategy focuses on a franchise model, which now accounts for the majority of its U.S. locations. This approach has fueled its expansion into new states and is a key part of its plan to significantly increase its footprint in the coming years. The company ended 2025 with 77 new cafe openings and has plans for 150 more in 2026, aiming to reach its 400th North American location.
