Mizzy's Pizza Opens in Carver

Mizzy's Pizza, founded by Jeff Misgen, has opened its second location in Carver, Minnesota. The new restaurant offers a sit-down dining experience, an expansion from its original take-out model.

The backstory of Mizzy's Pizza is a 19-year journey for owners and Carver residents Jeff and DeAnn Misgen. The name itself, "Mizzy's," originated from Jeff's childhood nickname. Their new location in Carver is a significant expansion, employing over 60 people. The development in Carver was a two-year process of construction and planning before its official opening on July 12. Public records show a commercial new construction permit was issued for a shell building at 4715 Dahlgren Rd with a value of $1,200,000, listing National Contractors Inc. as the contractor. A notable feature of the new building is a pass-thru awning window, a custom addition to allow for service to both an indoor and outdoor bar area. This design element was a specific choice to capitalize on the restaurant's growth and enhance the customer experience. The project received local government support in the form of a $90,000 grant from the City of Carver, facilitated by the Carver County Community Development Agency (CDA). This funding was part of the Community Growth Partnership Initiative, a program designed to increase the local tax base and foster job creation. This initiative requires applicants to demonstrate how their project aligns with the county's redevelopment and community improvement goals. Prior to the new sit-down establishment in Carver, the Misgens operated their original take-out focused location in Belle Plaine. With the opening of the Carver restaurant, the business model has been updated to handle delivery services for both Belle Plaine and Jordan from the new, larger facility.
