Plasma Exchange Therapy Launches in Beverly Hills
A new service offering advanced Therapeutic Plasma Exchange (TPE) has launched in Beverly Hills, California. The physician-led protocols are designed for personalized toxin reduction and are being offered inside the Cenegenics Beverly Hills clinic in response to rising environmental health concerns.
The service is a collaboration between MDLifespan, a medical technology company, and Cenegenics, a leader in age-management medicine. This partnership aims to move Therapeutic Plasma Exchange (TPE) from a hospital-based treatment for specific illnesses to a preventative outpatient procedure. The Beverly Hills location is one of the first markets in a national expansion, with others planned for Miami and Atlanta. Therapeutic Plasma Exchange, sometimes called plasmapheresis, is a procedure that filters a patient's blood. An IV is used to draw blood, which is then separated into its components: plasma, red blood cells, and immune cells. The patient's original plasma is removed and replaced with a solution, often containing saline and vitamins, which is then returned to the body with the original blood cells. This launch specifically targets the unique environmental stressors faced by residents of Southern California. Concerns include exposure to particulate matter from wildfires, urban air pollution, and growing public awareness about the health impacts of microplastics, PFAS, and other chemical contaminants found in California's water systems. Research continues to explore the links between these environmental toxins and systemic inflammation. MDLifespan's model for TPE is designed to remove environmental toxins like microplastics, heavy metals, and pesticides that can accumulate in the bloodstream. The company's protocol combines the plasma exchange procedure with nutritional support and education on how to avoid toxins, reporting that this integrated approach outperforms TPE alone by more than 300%. The goal is to address chronic inflammation which can contribute to a range of health issues including cognitive decline, metabolic dysfunction, and cardiovascular stress.
