Mets, Angels, Tigers level up farm systems

Sports Illustrated’s Aug. 5 review of the 2026 MLB trade deadline put the New York Mets, Los Angeles Angels and Detroit Tigers among six farm systems that improved the most after sellers converted veterans into prospect depth. One confirmed addition was Moisés Ballesteros. MLB.com reported that the Cubs acquired reliever Ryan Zeferjahn from the Angels and sent Ballesteros and right-hander Mason McGwire to Los Angeles, with McGwire becoming the Angels’ No. 15 prospect.
