Where Winds Meet Expands March 5
The wuxia epic Where Winds Meet launches its major "Hexi" expansion March 5, bringing an expansive dreamworld independent of the main timeline. This adds significant new content to the martial arts RPG's already massive world.
The "Hexi" expansion will be released in three distinct chapters between March and May 2026. In total, it will add three large maps containing nearly 20 sub-regions and introduce eleven new bosses. Chapter 1, "Jade Gate Pass," introduces unique gameplay mechanics for its vast desert environment. Players can learn "Sand Race" to surf across the sand and "Cosmic Reversal," an ability to rewind time to rebuild ruins, solve puzzles, and uncover secrets. The expansion's narrative shifts the setting to the Tang Dynasty, one of the most prosperous eras in ancient Chinese history. This story exists as a cinematic "dreamworld" pilgrimage, taking place outside of the main game's established timeline. One of the new bosses is the Wandering Ark, a colossal vessel that moves freely across the desert sea rather than staying in a fixed location. Another key boss is Guo Xin, the last Grand Protector of the ancient and now-abandoned Whitecrown City. *Where Winds Meet* is developed by Everstone Studio, a Hangzhou-based developer owned by publisher NetEase Games. The game is part of a growing wave of high-profile "wuxia" titles, a Chinese genre of fiction focused on the adventures of martial artists in ancient China. The base game is set during the turbulent Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period in tenth-century China. Players take on the role of a wandering sword-master, with gameplay featuring high-mobility parkour and a combat system based on various martial arts styles and weapon types. The game operates as a free-to-play title on PC, PlayStation 5, and mobile platforms. It blends a solo, narrative-driven campaign with optional cooperative play and massively multiplayer online elements.
