Battlefield 6 Season 2 Launches

Battlefield 6 Season 2, subtitled "Extreme Measures," rolls out this week adding new maps, features, and a "psychoactive smoke" tactical element in both the base game and Redsec battle royale mode. The season includes new gameplay mechanics designed to enhance tactical combat options.

- The season will be released in three distinct phases, with "Extreme Measures" starting on February 17, followed by "Nightfall" on March 17, and "Hunter/Prey" on April 14. - The new map, "Contaminated," is a large-scale battlefield set around a strategic German airbase in the mountains and supports land vehicles and helicopters. - New weaponry for this phase includes the M121 A2 belt-fed machine gun and the GRT-CPS semi-automatic marksman rifle, alongside a new recon gadget, the HTI-Mk2, which can detect and disrupt enemy gadgets. - The fan-favorite AH-6 Little Bird attack helicopter makes its return for NATO forces, adding a highly mobile aerial assault option. - Future updates in this season will introduce another new map called "Hagental Base" with a focus on close-quarters night combat, and a new game mode inspired by the classic "Operations" from Battlefield 1. - The main game, set during a conflict between NATO and Pax Armata, was originally released on October 10, 2025. - The Season 2 update, version 1.2.1.0, also includes over 240 gameplay improvements and quality-of-life fixes addressing weapon handling, vehicle reliability, and user interface clarity based on player feedback. - *Battlefield 6* launched with a peak of over 747,000 concurrent players on Steam, one of the highest ever for a paid game on the platform.
