New Module Simplifies WhatsApp API Integration

A new module has been launched for the Shofy e-commerce platform to streamline WhatsApp Cloud API integration. The tool is designed for multivendor marketplaces and aims to simplify the practical implementation of conversational commerce. This development reflects a growing demand for easier integration between e-commerce backends and the WhatsApp Business API.

- The WhatsApp Business API has shifted to a per-message pricing model, where costs in India are approximately $0.02 for marketing messages, with utility and authentication messages being 50-95% cheaper. Customer service conversations within a 24-hour window are free, and leads from click-to-WhatsApp ads get a 72-hour free messaging window. - Integrating the API often requires a Business Solution Provider (BSP), which can involve setup fees up to $1,000 and monthly subscriptions from $50 to $500, in addition to Meta's per-message charges. - The Indian conversational commerce market is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 17.8% between 2025 and 2035, driven by the adoption of multilingual AI chatbots. For context, India's conversational AI market was valued at $361.3 million in 2023 and is expected to reach $1.85 billion by 2030. - For payment collection within the chat interface, Unified Payments Interface (UPI) is a cost-effective option for Indian businesses as it typically has lower transaction costs than traditional methods and offers real-time fund settlement. Integration can be achieved via payment gateways, shareable payment links, or QR codes. - Meta is actively promoting conversational commerce in India with AI-powered advertising tools. For instance, its Advantage+ Catalog Ads, which automate product recommendations, have shown an average 14% increase in return on ad spend (ROAS) in early tests. - The use of AI chatbots in Indian e-commerce can reduce customer support costs by up to 30% by handling around 80% of routine queries. Leading Indian providers like Haptik and Yellow.ai offer solutions that support multiple Indian languages. - Hyperlocal e-commerce in India, a key area for WhatsApp-based businesses, is experiencing rapid growth, with the quick commerce sector projected to grow at a 51.84% CAGR between FY2021 and FY2025. This is shifting the focus from hypergrowth to profitability through advertising, subscriptions, and technology-driven efficiency.
