- Regional transit oversight meeting covering bus operations, capital projects, and local municipal input. - Tuesday, April 21, 2026 — 9:30–11:00 a.m. at the MTA Building. - Agenda and registration information at metro.net

Los Angeles County transit officials are meeting Tuesday morning to review bus operations and hear from city transit agencies across the region. (metro.net) Metro lists the public Bus Operations Subcommittee meeting for Tuesday, April 21, 2026, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on its calendar. Metro’s main site says registration and agenda details are posted online. (metro.net 1) (metro.net 2) The Bus Operations Subcommittee, known as BOS, is part of Metro’s Technical Advisory Committee structure rather than the elected Metro Board of Directors. Metro says BOS reviews transportation policies, operating issues and financing programs, then makes recommendations on matters Metro sends to it. (metro.net) That makes Tuesday’s meeting one of the places where municipal bus operators can press Metro on service coordination before issues reach the agency’s formal board process. Metro says its committees and subcommittees are intended to give the public a chance to weigh in. (metro.net) The focus on bus operations lands as Metro is still working through its NextGen Bus Plan, the 2020 system redesign meant to make service faster, more frequent, more reliable and more accessible. Metro says the plan was built to match current travel patterns and rider needs. (metro.net) Bus service remains the biggest part of Metro’s transit network. Metro’s February 2026 fact sheet says the agency serves 11,840 bus stops across 1,440 square miles, runs 117 bus routes and has a total bus fleet of 2,086 vehicles, including spares and contracted service. (metro.net) Metro has also kept adjusting service after the NextGen rollout. In a June 2025 service update, the agency said it makes bus route and schedule changes twice a year and described those changes as part of its effort to improve reliability, efficiency and convenience. (metro.net) Capital projects are part of the backdrop as well. Metro’s strategic plan runs through 2028, and the agency says that plan sets performance goals for building, operating and maintaining the countywide transportation system. (metro.net) Metro’s board also approved $2.9 billion in fiscal 2026 transit fund allocations for local jurisdictions and transit operators in July 2025, giving city agencies a direct stake in how regional priorities are set. (metro.net) The meeting itself is short — 90 minutes on Metro’s calendar — but it sits in the middle of a week of Metro governance meetings ahead of the regular board meeting on Thursday, April 23. Metro’s board agenda site shows the regular board meeting scheduled for 10 a.m. at One Gateway Plaza. (metro.net) (boardagendas.metro.net)
