Knicks Snap Spurs' 11-Game Win Streak

Mikal Bridges scored 25 points to lead the Knicks in snapping the San Antonio Spurs' 11-game win streak at Madison Square Garden, despite Victor Wembanyama's strong 25-13-4 line. The victory signals intensity in the playoff race as the regular season winds down.

The Spurs' dominant stretch came to a halt as the Knicks beat them 114-89. San Antonio had not experienced a loss since January 31st against the Charlotte Hornets. This loss also marked their first defeat in the month of March, after going undefeated through February. The Knicks' victory was fueled by a massive 26-2 run in the first half that the Spurs could not overcome. Jalen Brunson was a key contributor for New York, scoring 24 points and dishing out seven assists. The Knicks dominated on the boards, outrebounding the Spurs 54-41. While Victor Wembanyama put up a strong stat line, he also committed seven of the team's season-high 22 turnovers. The Knicks were able to convert these turnovers into 24 points. Wembanyama expressed his surprise at the team's performance, stating they "gave them life" during the Knicks' first-quarter run. This win is a significant one for a Knicks team that has been trying to find consistency, having gone 15-13 since the start of the new year. The victory also served as revenge for a 134-132 loss to the Spurs on New Year's Eve. The Knicks are currently positioned as the third seed in the Eastern Conference standings. The Spurs' 11-game winning streak was their longest in nearly a decade and had generated significant excitement in San Antonio. It was the longest active streak in the NBA at the time. Prior to this loss, the Spurs were sitting second in the Western Conference standings.
