Drake Drops 'What Did I Miss'

Drake released "What Did I Miss" with an official music video, sparking intense reaction content across YouTube. The track includes apparent disses toward Kendrick Lamar and references to "Not Like Us," reigniting their ongoing rivalry. Reaction videos are already dissecting the bars and generating massive social media chatter about the hip-hop beef.

The rivalry between Drake and Kendrick Lamar stretches back over a decade, originating with Lamar's verse on the 2013 track "Control," where he called out several rappers, including Drake. While the conflict simmered for years with subliminal disses, it erupted in March 2024 after Lamar's feature on "Like That" rejected the idea of a "big three" in hip-hop, proclaiming it was "just big me." The feud escalated rapidly with a series of diss tracks. Drake responded with "Push Ups" and "Taylor Made Freestyle," which mocked Lamar's height and artistic collaborations. Lamar countered with the six-minute-long "Euphoria" and "6:16 in LA," before Drake released "Family Matters," which included accusations of domestic abuse against Lamar. Lamar's response, "Not Like Us," became a cultural phenomenon, debuting at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and breaking Spotify's single-day streaming record for a rap song. The track, produced by Mustard, leveled serious allegations that Drake is a pedophile, which Drake has denied. The cover art for the single was an overhead map of Drake's Toronto home marked with sex offender symbols. Following the exchange, Lamar performed "Not Like Us" five consecutive times at his "The Pop Out" concert in Los Angeles, an event widely seen as a victory lap. He later performed the Grammy-winning song during the Super Bowl LIX halftime show, further cementing its cultural dominance. Drake subsequently sued Universal Music Group over the song's release, though the lawsuit was ultimately dismissed. On "What Did I Miss?", Drake shifts his focus from direct attacks on Lamar to the theme of betrayal from his inner circle. The lyrics question the loyalty of friends and collaborators who attended Lamar's "Pop Out" concert or publicly sided with his rival during the feud. The song's hook, "What did I miss?", serves as a rhetorical question to those he once considered allies.
