New Restaurants Opening in SoMa and North Beach

San Francisco's restaurant scene continues to expand with several new openings. JouJou, a French restaurant from the Lazy Bear team, will open in SoMa on March 6. Meanwhile, the popular katsu sando pop-up Kiri is establishing a permanent location in North Beach, targeting a fall 2026 opening.

- JouJou is a 6,500-square-foot space designed to evoke a “grand old belle epoque resort on the French Riviera, renovated in the sleazy '70s,” featuring a raw bar and an enclosed patio called the "menagerie". - The restaurant's founder, David Barzelay, aims to move beyond the esoteric tasting menus of his two-Michelin-star restaurant Lazy Bear and revive a sense of "grandness" in dining, inspired by classics like New York's Balthazar. - The à la carte menu will focus on seafood and classic French dishes prepared with laborious techniques, with entrees priced from roughly $35 to $75.
