Trump announces $300B Texas oil refinery

President Trump announced a new $300B oil refinery in Brownsville, TX, with investment from India's Reliance—the first refinery in 50 years, boosting US energy dominance.

America First Refining will construct the refinery at the Port of Brownsville, with the project potentially breaking ground as early as Q2 2026. The facility is projected to process 168,000 barrels of U.S. shale oil per day. The refinery aims to process 1.2 billion barrels of U.S. light shale oil, valued at $125 billion, and produce 50 billion gallons of refined products, worth an estimated $175 billion. America First Refining also signed a 20-year agreement with a global supermajor to purchase, process, and distribute American-produced energy exclusively sourced from American shale oil. Reliance Industries, which operates the world's largest refining complex in Jamnagar, India, is expected to provide expertise to the project. The new facility is designed to exclusively process American shale oil, differentiating it from other Gulf Coast refineries that handle imported crude. The refinery is projected to improve the U.S. trade imbalance by $300 billion. The facility will also be located at a deep-water port, allowing for both domestic distribution and international exports.
