Jill Scott Returns After Decade
Jill Scott is back with new music after more than a decade between studio albums. She released the official video for "Pressha," the lead single from her forthcoming album. This marks a significant return for the acclaimed R&B vocalist who's been largely absent from recording.
Jill Scott's previous studio album, "Woman," was released in 2015 and became her second to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Her 2011 album, "The Light of the Sun," also topped the chart, selling 135,000 copies in its first week. During her break from recording, Scott remained active in other creative fields. She took on several acting roles, appearing in the TV series "Black Lightning" as Lady Eve and starring in the BET+ show "First Wives Club." The acclaimed vocalist also maintained a strong presence on the road. In 2023, she launched a sold-out 20th-anniversary tour for her classic debut album, "Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds, Vol. 1." The tour was originally planned for 2020 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Her new 19-track album, titled "To Whom This May Concern," was released on February 13, 2026. Scott described the project as "an offering leaning heavily into the power of connectivity, humanity and collective home." The album features a diverse range of collaborators, including rappers Ab-Soul, J.I.D, Tierra Whack, and Too $hort. Behind the scenes, the production lineup includes notable names like DJ Premier, Adam Blackstone, and Om'Mas Keith.
