Texas Refinery to Boost US Energy

President Trump announced America First Refining's $300B oil refinery in Brownsville, TX—the first U.S. build in 50 years, promising thousands of jobs.

America First Refining, the company behind the project, aimed to process 500,000 barrels of crude oil daily. The proposed refinery was to be located on 1,400 acres and connect to pipelines to receive crude oil from the Permian Basin and Eagle Ford Shale. However, the project faced significant hurdles, including obtaining necessary permits and securing financing. Environmental groups also voiced concerns about potential pollution and impacts on sensitive coastal ecosystems. Ultimately, America First Refining abandoned the Brownsville project. The company shifted its focus to developing a refinery in West Texas instead.
