Keith Thurman Talks Trash
Former world champion Keith Thurman claims his March 28 fight against Sebastian Fundora will change "the first time he lands clean", suggesting his power will be decisive against the much taller Fundora. Thurman's confidence adds intrigue to the 154-pound matchup.
This bout presents a dramatic physical mismatch, with Sebastian "The Towering Inferno" Fundora standing at a remarkable 6-foot-6, enjoying an 11-inch height and reach advantage over the 5-foot-7 Keith Thurman. Fundora, a southpaw, uses his unique frame to create difficult angles for opponents. Thurman, 37, is a former unified welterweight world champion aiming to become a two-division champion. His only professional loss came in a 2019 split decision against boxing legend Manny Pacquiao. Prior to that, he had notable victories over champions like Shawn Porter and Danny Garcia. Despite his decorated past, Thurman has been largely inactive in recent years, fighting only twice since the Pacquiao loss in July 2019. He earned a unanimous decision against Mario Barrios in February 2022 and a third-round TKO victory over Brock Jarvis in March 2025. The March 28 clash is for Fundora's WBC Super Welterweight title, a belt he won by defeating Tim Tszyu in 2024. This will be the 28-year-old champion's third title defense. This championship fight was originally slated for October 2025 but was postponed after Fundora suffered a hand injury during a sparring session. Despite Thurman's confident predictions, oddsmakers have installed the much younger and larger champion, Fundora, as the betting favorite. The bout is scheduled to take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
