Houston Art Scene 'Flowering'

Houston is experiencing a 'flowering' of art festivals and museum shows, offering immersive experiences throughout the city 9 new art museum and gallery exhibits opening in Houston this month.

The Menil Collection just opened "Photography and the Surreal Imagination," showcasing the relationship between photography and the Surrealist movement. This exhibit displays photographs alongside Surrealist paintings and objects. Also opening this month is "David McGee: Black Compositions," a 30-year survey of the artist's work at the Art Museum of Southeast Texas. McGee's work often incorporates found objects and text, exploring themes of identity and history. The Moody Center for the Arts at Rice University is presenting " সংলাপues," which features artists from Houston and Havana. This exhibition explores the cultural and artistic exchange between the two cities.
