Forbes Spotlights New PE 'Money Master'
Forbes has named Sherrese Clarke Soares of HarbourView Equity Partners to its 2026 BLK50 list of top money managers. Soares is a notable private equity leader who has built a reputation for blending pop culture savvy with elite investments, making her a relevant name among high-net-worth finance executives.
Before founding HarbourView in 2021, Sherrese Clarke Soares had a distinguished 20-year career in finance, including as a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley. There, she led the Entertainment, Media, & Sports Structured Solutions Platform, managing capital solutions for intellectual property and overseeing the origination of over $85 billion in loan commitments. HarbourView Equity Partners launched with a formidable $1 billion in backing from Apollo Global Management to acquire music rights and entertainment assets. The firm focuses on content as a source of perpetual, recurring income, a strategy that has proven attractive to investors. The firm has been highly acquisitive, purchasing the music catalogs of major artists like Nelly, Wiz Khalifa, Kane Brown, and Fleetwood Mac's Christine McVie. As of mid-2025, HarbourView had acquired over 70 catalogs, representing more than 35,000 songs, and reported approximately $2.67 billion in regulatory assets under management. Beyond music royalties, HarbourView is expanding into film and television. The company recently financed a slate of hip-hop biopics with Will Smith's Westbrook Studios and invested in Usher's 2024 concert film, "Rendezvous in Paris." The Forbes BLK50 list, an evolution of the magazine's former Wealthiest Black Americans list, aims to spotlight the most influential Black entrepreneurs, executives, and creators who are driving significant change in business and culture. Soares is one of only nine women on the "Money Masters" version of the list, which focuses on leaders in private equity, venture capital, and private credit.
