SXSW Film Premieres Announced
SXSW 2026 (March 12-18) will feature film premieres from Boots Riley, documentaries on Charley Crockett and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, plus horror films like "Hokum" [https://www.rollingstone.com/tv-movies/tv-movie-lists/sxsw-2026-best-movies-1235509681/].
Boots Riley's "I Love Boosters" will open the festival, following a group of shoplifters targeting a fashion maven and starring Keke Palmer, Naomi Ackie, and Demi Moore. Riley's previous works, "Sorry To Bother You" and "I'm A Virgo," tackled capitalism and policing, respectively, suggesting "I Love Boosters" will continue his politically charged, irreverent style. Two music documentaries will premiere: "A Cowboy in London," focusing on Charley Crockett's sold-out London shows, and "The Rise of the Red Hot Chili Peppers: Our Brother, Hillel," exploring the band's early years and original guitarist Hillel Slovak. The Chili Peppers documentary, directed by Ben Feldman, includes interviews with Flea and Anthony Kiedis. It premieres on March 13 at SXSW before streaming on Netflix March 20. Horror highlights include "Hokum," directed by Damian McCarthy and starring Adam Scott as an author haunted in a remote Irish inn. Neon acquired worldwide rights to "Hokum," which premieres at SXSW on March 14 before a theatrical release on May 1. "Ready or Not 2: Here I Come," the sequel to the 2019 horror film, will also premiere.
