Chelsea Piers Fitness to Open in Hudson Square

Chelsea Piers Fitness announced it will open a new club in Hudson Square, expanding its footprint in New York City. The new location continues the fitness brand's 30-year history in the city.

The new 50,000-square-foot club will be located at 225 West Houston Street, transforming a historic industrial printing house that occupies an entire city block. Slated to open in the second half of 2026, it is being designed as a "third place" for members to train, work, recover, and socialize, moving beyond a purely transactional gym experience. A waitlist is already open for "Founding Memberships," which will lock in the lowest rates, estimated to be between $230 and $275 per month. This pricing strategy positions the club as a high-value alternative to boutique fitness classes, which can cost upwards of $40 per session in the city. The facility will feature four boutique-style studios for classes like infrared yoga and HIIT, extensive strength and cardio areas with Life Fitness and Peloton equipment, and multiple turf zones for functional training. Unique amenities will include a co-ed contrast therapy suite, a dedicated Kids Clubhouse, and locker rooms stocked with Malin + Goetz products. This opening is part of a significant expansion for the brand, with other new locations planned for Midtown East, Jersey City, and Long Island City. These will join the existing clubs in Chelsea, Downtown Brooklyn, Prospect Heights, Flatiron, and Stamford, Connecticut. The Hudson Square location places Chelsea Piers Fitness amidst a neighborhood undergoing a major transformation, increasingly anchored by the tech and media industries. It will be near Google's expanded campus and Disney's new 1.2-million-square-foot headquarters at 7 Hudson Square. This influx of corporate HQs is being matched by a surge in residential and public amenity development. Projects like "Hudson Mosaic" at 388 Hudson Street are set to add hundreds of affordable housing units alongside a new, city-operated recreation center featuring a pool and basketball court, further increasing the neighborhood's density and appeal.
