Bybit Co-CEO Helen Liu to Depart
Helen Liu, Co-CEO of crypto exchange Bybit, will depart the company on April 30, 2026. Liu is leaving the world's second-largest crypto exchange to pursue her own entrepreneurial ambitions.
Helen Liu's tenure at Bybit, which began in 2020, was marked by a swift rise through the company's leadership ranks. Before her appointment as Co-CEO in 2025, she held the roles of Chief Operating Officer, Chief of Staff, Vice President of Marketing, and her initial position as Vice President of Human Resources. Liu's background was not originally in crypto; she transitioned to the Web3 industry after a distinguished career at major multinational corporations. Her previous experience includes serving as HR Director for Microsoft's Asia-Pacific Operations Center and as Global HR Director for Nokia's Global Supply Chain Division. Her departure comes as Bybit holds a significant position in the market, recognized as the world's second-largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume. The platform serves over 82 million users in more than 181 countries and regions. The exchange has seen substantial growth, capturing 8.1% of the global centralized exchange market share as of February 2026. In late 2025, Bybit achieved a new milestone by recording over $9.2 billion in 24-hour spot trading volume, securing the top position among centralized exchanges on that day. Under its current leadership, the company has also focused on security and transparency. Bybit recently reported that its AI-driven fraud detection system intercepted and recovered over $300 million in potentially fraudulent withdrawals in the fourth quarter of 2025. To further build user trust, the exchange regularly publishes Proof-of-Reserves reports. The 31st snapshot, released in early March 2026, confirmed that Bybit maintains reserves at or above 100 percent for all major tracked assets, verified by third-party auditors. Following Liu's departure, Bybit will continue under the leadership of Co-founder and CEO Ben Zhou. Zhou acknowledged Liu's role in shaping the company's culture and guiding it through periods of rapid growth and industry challenges.
