Strava Adds Muscle Map, AirPods Heart Rate Tracking
Strava introduced a 'Muscle Map' feature and heart rate tracking via AirPods Pro 3, offering more granular insights into workout intensity.
The new 'Muscle Map' feature lets users visualize which muscles they worked during strength training sessions. After completing a workout, users can select the muscle groups they targeted, and Strava will generate a visual map highlighting those muscles. The muscle map is available for Weight Training, CrossFit, Workout, and HIIT activity types. Strava's integration with AirPods Pro 3 allows users to stream heart rate data directly to the app. This eliminates the need for additional sensors for mobile users, while Apple Watch users may see improved tracking accuracy. To use this feature, users need iOS 18 or later and must grant Strava permission to access heart rate data in the Apple Health app. These updates are part of a broader effort to help athletes better understand their training and track their progress. Strava also recently added five new sport types: basketball, volleyball, dance, padel, and cricket. Subscribers now have access to expanded Instant Workouts that include weekly recommendations and select workouts from Apple Fitness+.
