Atlassian embeds Gemini in collaboration stack

- Atlassian expanded its Google Cloud partnership to embed Gemini Enterprise and Google Workspace more deeply into its products. - The update includes deeper Rovo integrations and closer Gemini tooling inside Atlassian’s teamwork surfaces. - This reflects a product trend where enterprise AI is integrated into collaboration tools people already use, not siloed in separate apps (siliconangle.com).

Atlassian said April 22 it is weaving Google’s Gemini Enterprise and Workspace deeper into Jira, Confluence, and its Rovo AI tools. (googlecloudpresscorner.com) The announcement came at Google Cloud Next ’26 in Las Vegas, where Atlassian and Google outlined a new phase of a partnership they first announced on August 7, 2025. Atlassian said joint customers will be able to reach AI agents inside the tools where they already plan projects and share documents. (googlecloudpresscorner.com) (atlassian.com) Atlassian said Gemini 3 Flash will power some Rovo features, including work that requires reasoning, summarization, and multimodal handling of text and images. The company also said it is running key AI training workloads on Google Kubernetes Engine and Google Cloud’s AI Hypercomputer. (googlecloudpresscorner.com) (cloud.google.com) Rovo is Atlassian’s in-house AI layer for search, chat, and software agents, and the company spent the past year moving it from add-on product to built-in feature. Atlassian said at Team ’25 on April 9, 2025 that Rovo would roll out to Premium and Enterprise customers first, with Standard customers to follow. (atlassian.com) (community.atlassian.com) That rollout helps explain the Google tie-up: Atlassian now has a larger installed base using Rovo inside products like Jira and Confluence, so tighter links to Google Workspace can land inside existing workflows instead of asking workers to open a separate AI app. Atlassian said more than 300,000 customers use Atlassian Cloud, and 2.3 million users were already using Atlassian AI as of its August 2025 partnership post. (atlassian.com) (googlecloudpresscorner.com) Google framed the deal as a way to put Gemini inside day-to-day work software rather than keep it in a standalone assistant. Google Cloud Vice President Satish Thomas said the companies are “embedding the power of Gemini Enterprise and Google Workspace directly into the teamwork stack.” (googlecloudpresscorner.com) One example is Confluence Remix, which Atlassian said uses Gemini 3 Flash and multimodal features to turn text-heavy pages into diagrams and charts. Google said the feature is aimed at faster stakeholder decisions without sending teams into another application. (cloud.google.com) (googlecloudpresscorner.com) Atlassian also kept its multi-model message in the announcement, saying Gemini 3 Flash will power “certain” Rovo capabilities rather than the whole stack. That leaves room for Atlassian to keep mixing models while pushing AI deeper into the software teams already use to plan, document, and ship work. (googlecloudpresscorner.com)
