Bills Acquire DJ Moore

The Buffalo Bills have acquired D.J. Moore from the Chicago Bears in a move to bolster their passing attack. The trade continues the Bears' roster overhaul while giving Buffalo another weapon for their offense. This follows social media buzz about Moore being part of mock trades during the active free agency period.

To acquire DJ Moore, the Buffalo Bills sent a 2026 second-round draft pick to the Chicago Bears, and in return, received Moore and a 2026 fifth-round selection. The trade reunites Moore with new Bills head coach Joe Brady, who was his offensive coordinator with the Carolina Panthers for the 2020 season and most of the 2021 season. During that period under Brady, Moore had two of his most productive seasons, surpassing 1,100 receiving yards in both years. The move addresses a significant need for the Bills, whose wide receiver group generated the ninth-fewest receiving yards in the NFL during the 2025 season. For the past two seasons, Buffalo has lacked a definitive No. 1 receiver, with Khalil Shakir leading the team in receiving yards during that time. Moore is expected to immediately become the top perimeter target for quarterback Josh Allen. For the Bears, this trade is a key part of a broader roster overhaul. The move clears $16.5 million in salary cap space for Chicago, providing significant financial flexibility as they continue to build around their young quarterback, Caleb Williams. This follows other recent moves, including the release of linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, as the team focuses on acquiring draft capital and reshaping its roster. Moore is coming off a down year in 2025, where he recorded career lows in receptions (50) and receiving yards (682). This dip in production was influenced by a new offensive scheme in Chicago and the emergence of younger receivers like Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III. The Bills are taking on the remainder of Moore's contract, which includes a $24.5 million cap hit for the upcoming season. As part of the trade, Buffalo is also guaranteeing $15.5 million of Moore's salary for the 2028 season.
