Giannis Returns, Bucks Still Fall

Giannis Antetokounmpo made his return from injury for the Milwaukee Bucks, but his presence wasn't enough as the Bucks fell to the league-leading Boston Celtics. The loss raises questions about Milwaukee's postseason prospects and whether Giannis' return alone can spark a late-season surge.

Antetokounmpo returned to the lineup after missing 15 consecutive games with a right calf strain he suffered on January 23rd against the Denver Nuggets. In his 26 minutes on the court, he put up 19 points and 11 rebounds, but it wasn't enough to overcome a dominant Celtics performance. The Bucks struggled to find their rhythm, going 8-7 during Giannis's most recent absence. Overall, Milwaukee holds an 11-18 record without their two-time MVP this season, highlighting their dependency on him. This loss marks the Bucks' third consecutive defeat, all by 23 or more points. The team now sits with a 26-34 record on the season, placing them 11th in the Eastern Conference and outside of the current play-in tournament picture. The Celtics' victory was particularly impressive as they were without their two top stars, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Payton Pritchard led the charge for Boston with 25 points off the bench, while rookie Hugo González had a career-high 18 points and 16 rebounds. Boston has now won 12 of their last 14 games and this victory gives them a dominant 4-1 season series lead over the Bucks. The Celtics' balanced attack, even when shorthanded, proved too much for a struggling Milwaukee team.
