Metallica Adds Vegas Shows

Metallica added six more shows to their Las Vegas Sphere residency due to "unbelievable demand". The heavy metal legends continue to break records with their immersive concert experiences at the cutting-edge venue. The Sphere's 360-degree visuals and spatial audio create a unique concert format that's drawing fans worldwide.

The architectural marvel known as the Sphere cost $2.3 billion to construct, making it the most expensive entertainment venue in Las Vegas. It stands 366 feet high and 516 feet wide, and its exterior is covered in 580,000 square feet of LED displays. The venue has a seated capacity of 17,600 and a total capacity of 20,000. Inside, concert-goers are enveloped by a 160,000-square-foot, 16K resolution wraparound LED screen. The audio experience is powered by a HOLOPLOT system that uses beamforming technology to deliver clear, consistent sound to every seat, a significant challenge in a spherical venue. The system is hidden behind the LED screen to maintain unobstructed views. Metallica is one of many top-tier acts to hold a residency at the Sphere. The venue was inaugurated by U2 with a 40-show run. Other notable residencies have included Phish, Dead & Company, and the Eagles. The venue plans to host four to six residencies annually. As a touring powerhouse, Metallica consistently ranks as a top global act. In 2024, their "M72 World Tour" grossed approximately $179.4 million from 1.5 million tickets sold across 24 shows. This placed them as the only metal or hard rock band in Pollstar's top ten worldwide touring artists for the year. The band has a history of breaking attendance records. On their "M72 Tour," they set the highest single-show attendance record at Los Angeles' SoFi Stadium, drawing approximately 78,000 fans for each of their two nights. The Metallica "Life Burns Faster” residency at the Sphere is a custom production designed specifically for the venue. The initial dates for the residency are scheduled for October 2026. Tickets for the Sphere residency reflect the high-demand nature of the event. Two-day passes are being offered, with prices on secondary markets running into hundreds and even thousands of dollars, depending on the seat location.
