WoW Silvermoon City Upgraded

For the first time in 20 years, Blizzard has overhauled Silvermoon City with World of Warcraft's *Midnight* expansion launch. The update brings the beloved Blood Elf capital up to modern graphical standards, making it a top destination in Azeroth once again after being largely unchanged since 2006's *The Burning Crusade*.

The original Silvermoon City was technically part of the Outland map, which is why players faced a loading screen to enter and why flying was never enabled. The city itself was constructed as a facade, with many buildings being incomplete models not meant to be seen from the air, a "cardboard cutout" of a city. The updated Silvermoon in *Midnight* is more than just a graphical touch-up; it's a complete reconstruction. The city has at least doubled in size, incorporating the formerly ruined western half and healing the Dead Scar that once cut through the zone. This new version is fully integrated into the main Azeroth map, allowing for seamless travel and, for the first time, flying. The renewed capital will serve as the central hub for the *Midnight* expansion for both Horde and Alliance players. While roughly two-thirds of the city will be neutral territory, a significant portion, the Crimson Quarter, will remain exclusive to the Horde. This dual-faction hub is a significant shift for the traditionally Horde-aligned city. New quests and lore are woven into the fabric of the rebuilt city. Players will begin the questline to unlock the new Haranir Allied Race within Silvermoon. The city also introduces a new reputation faction, the Silvermoon Court, and features a new delving companion, the blood elf rogue Valeera Sanguinar. The surrounding area, now a unified zone called Quel'Thalas, has also been completely revamped, merging Eversong Woods, the Ghostlands, and the Isle of Quel'Danas. A new bridge, the Shining Span, now connects Silvermoon directly to the Isle of Quel'Danas. The autumnal, golden-hued forests of Eversong have been expanded, while darker areas remain to evoke the former Ghostlands. This overhaul is part of a larger narrative centered on defending the Sunwell from an invasion by Xal'atath and the forces of the Void. The expansion will feature several new dungeons and raids connected to this storyline, including a revamped Magisters' Terrace.
