Veracity Research sued over breaks

Employment law attorneys have filed a suit against Veracity Research Co., LLC. The lawsuit alleges the company failed to provide employees with legally required meal and rest breaks, resulting in underpayment of wages.

The class action lawsuit against Veracity Research Co., LLC is officially listed as Case No. 30-2025-0153351-CU-OE-CXC and is currently before the Orange County Superior Court in California. This legal action accuses the company of multiple violations of the California Labor Code. The complaint extends beyond missed breaks, alleging a pattern of wage theft. Specific claims include Veracity Research's failure to pay minimum and overtime wages, failure to provide accurate itemized wage statements, and failure to reimburse employees for required business expenses. The suit also claims the company failed to pay sick wages and provide all due wages at the time of termination. Under California law, non-exempt employees are entitled to a 30-minute, unpaid meal break for any work period longer than five hours. Additionally, a paid 10-minute rest break is required for every four hours worked. For shifts over 10 hours, a second 30-minute meal break is mandated. The financial penalties for such violations are specific. For each day an employee's meal or rest break is denied, the employer is required to pay an additional hour of that employee's regular pay. The suit was filed by the law firm Blumenthal Nordrehaug Bhowmik De Blouw LLP. This firm specializes in employment law and has a history of filing class-action lawsuits against companies for alleged violations of the California Labor Code.
