Metallica Announces Sphere Las Vegas Residency

Metallica announced an eight-show residency at The Sphere in Las Vegas for October 2026, featuring no-repeat setlists and at least one full performance of *Master of Puppets* for its 40th anniversary. VIP ticket packages start at $1,000 excluding travel and accommodations, with presale access available through the band's Fifth Member Club.

- The "No Repeat Weekend" format, where the band plays two completely different setlists in the same city, was first introduced on their M72 World Tour which began in 2023. - The Sphere is a $2.3 billion venue, making it the most expensive entertainment venue in Las Vegas; it features a 16K resolution, 15,000-square-meter wraparound interior LED screen. - Drummer Lars Ulrich stated he was inspired to perform at the venue after seeing U2's opening night there in 2023, saying "About 12 seconds into the opening night... I thought, 'We have to do this'". - Metallica will be the first hard rock or metal act to headline the Sphere, following residencies from bands like U2, Phish, Dead & Company, and The Eagles. - The residency's title, "Life Burns Faster," is a direct lyric from the title track of the *Master of Puppets* album. - The band has previously performed the *Master of Puppets* album in its entirety for the album's 20th anniversary in 2006. - Bassist Robert Trujillo has publicly expressed excitement about the venue's potential, specifically mentioning the visual possibilities for the instrumental track "Orion." - The first residency at the Sphere, "U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere," was so popular it was extended from an initial 25 shows to a total of 40 performances.
