PSG Advances in Champions League

PSG secured progression in the UEFA Champions League with a strong away performance, with Vini Jr. proving decisive in their advance. Other Champions League results included Atalanta defeating Borussia Dortmund 4-1, PSG drawing 2-2 with Monaco, and Real Madrid beating Benfica 2-1 to continue their European campaign.

As the reigning Champions League title holders, Paris Saint-Germain's journey to defend their crown continues as they advance to the round of 16. Their progression marks the 14th consecutive season they have reached this stage of the competition. PSG secured their spot with a 5-4 aggregate victory over fellow Ligue 1 side AS Monaco. The second leg, held at PSG's Parc des Princes, ended in a 2-2 draw, which was enough to see them through following their 3-2 win in the first leg. A pivotal moment in the second leg came in the 58th minute when Monaco's Mamadou Coulibaly received a red card. PSG capitalized on the man advantage almost immediately, with Marquinhos scoring the equalizer just two minutes later. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia then added another goal for PSG in the 66th minute. Monaco's Maghnes Akliouche had initially given his side the lead just before halftime, leveling the aggregate score at 3-3. A late goal from Monaco substitute Jordan Teze in stoppage time made for a tense final few minutes, but PSG held on for the aggregate win. Elsewhere in the Champions League playoffs, Real Madrid also advanced with a 3-1 aggregate win over Benfica, with Vinicius Junior scoring the decisive goal in the second leg. In a dramatic comeback, Atalanta overturned a first-leg deficit to beat Borussia Dortmund 4-3 on aggregate, thanks to a last-minute penalty.
