Gott's Roadside Opens in LA
Gott's Roadside opened its first Los Angeles location at The Grove, bringing the beloved California burger and shake spot's signature casual fare to a new audience. The expansion marks a significant milestone for the brand's growth beyond its Northern California roots.
The new location, opening March 6, 2026, is situated at the Original Farmers Market, adjacent to The Grove. It features a 2,486-square-foot indoor space with 43 seats and two outdoor dining areas totaling 2,070 square feet with 130 seats. A dedicated soft-serve window, a first for the brand, will serve Strauss organic ice cream. Before it was Gott's Roadside, the restaurant first opened in St. Helena in 1999 as Taylor's Automatic Refresher. Brothers Joel and Duncan Gott took over a modest roadside stand that dated back to 1949 and transformed it. The name was changed in 2010 following a trademark dispute. The brand is a recipient of the prestigious James Beard America's Classic award, recognizing its elevated take on American comfort food. The menu focuses on locally sourced, premium ingredients, a philosophy that has been central to its identity since its inception in Napa Valley. While known for its burgers, like the California Burger and Kimchi Burger, the menu also includes items such as Ahi Poke Crispy Tacos and Teriyaki Chicken Tenders. The new LA restaurant will source ingredients from local vendors including Cream Co. Meats, Red Bird Farms, Pacific Fresh Fish Co., and Larder Baking Co. This expansion into Los Angeles is the company's first major push into Southern California, adding to its nine existing locations in Northern California. A second Los Angeles area outpost is already planned for Santa Monica, scheduled to open in the fall of 2026.
