350K+ supplement recall

Over 350,000 vitamin and iron supplement units were recalled — the list includes brands such as Arey, Bari Life, Bird&Be, Biote, Dr Fuhrman, NuLife, HMR, Bariatric Pal, Noevir, Zenbean, and Sakara. (If you use supplements as part of a high‑protein or weight plan, it’s worth checking your cabinet against the recall list immediately.) (palmbeachpost.com)

A recall that started with one manufacturer just swept across 11 supplement brands because the problem was not the pills themselves. The problem was the bottles and packets: they were not child-resistant even though the products contained iron. (cpsc.gov) The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said about 356,140 units are covered, and it posted the recall on April 9, 2026. The recalled products were made by Vitaquest International and sold under labels including Arey, Bari Life, Bird&Be, Biote, Dr. Fuhrman, NuLife, HMR, Bariatric Pal, Noevir, Zenbean, and Sakara. (cpsc.gov) Iron is a common ingredient in prenatal vitamins, multivitamins, and bariatric supplements, which is why this recall hits several different corners of the wellness market at once. The Consumer Product Safety Commission said iron can pose a risk of serious injury or death if swallowed by young children, which is why federal law requires child-resistant packaging. (cpsc.gov) This was sold in more places than a typical niche supplement recall. The products were sold nationwide from April 2023 through February 2026 at stores including Credo Beauty, Erewhon, Nutrition World, The Vitamin Shoppe, Ulta Beauty, on Amazon, on brand websites, through Fullscript, and in medical practitioners’ offices. (abc27.com) The price range shows how wide the net is. Depending on the brand and package size, the recalled items sold for between $13 and $130, covering everything from children’s multivitamins to prenatal packs to bariatric formulas. (abc27.com, cpsc.gov) The remedy is not “throw it out and hope for the best.” Vitaquest says consumers should move the products out of sight and reach of children right away, then contact the company for a free child-resistant replacement cap or a storage pouch, depending on the product. (cpsc.gov) The recall list is unusually mixed, which makes it easy to miss if you only think of “iron supplements” as one kind of bottle. The Consumer Product Safety Commission’s product table includes Arey’s “Not Today, Grey,” Bird&Be prenatal packs, Dr. Fuhrman prenatal and children’s vitamins, HMR’s daily vitamin, Zenbean’s Kids Café nutrition drink, and Sakara’s Foundation and Foundation Prenatal packets. (cpsc.gov) This is also not the first time Vitaquest-made iron supplements have run into this exact rule. In 2025, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced separate recalls involving Vitaquest-manufactured Bariatric Fusion and California Gold Nutrition iron products for the same child-resistant packaging issue. (cpsc.gov, cpsc.gov) If you have any of these products, the fastest way to check is by matching the exact brand and product name against the Consumer Product Safety Commission list, not just the front label color or bottle shape. The agency says the remedy depends on the item, so one product may get a replacement cap while another gets a pouch. (cpsc.gov)
