NVIDIA Unveils DLSS 4.5 at GDC

NVIDIA unveiled DLSS 4.5 at GDC, promising greater geometry processing, improved modding tools, and enhanced VR streaming for PC gamers.

DLSS 4.5 will feature Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, which adjusts the number of generated frames to target a user's desired frame rate, balancing frame rate, image quality, and responsiveness. This feature will be available as an opt-in beta through the NVIDIA app starting March 31 for GeForce RTX 50 Series owners. The update includes a 6X Multi Frame Generation mode that can increase 4K frame rates in path-traced games. When paired with NVIDIA Reflex, the additional frames are generated with minimal impact on responsiveness. This is designed for monitors with high refresh rates, and Dynamic Multi-Frame Generation will switch between 1x to 6x to maintain the designed FPS. NVIDIA is also improving modding tools with the RTX Remix Advanced Particle VFX system, enabling modders to create unique effects in path-traced remasters. A Quake III Arena RTX demo is available for download to showcase these features. GeForce NOW users can expect improved VR streaming, with the service supporting up to 90 FPS on virtual reality headsets starting March 19. This includes devices like the Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest.
