Claude can run schedules

Anthropic added scheduled tasks to Claude so the assistant can run recurring browser tasks automatically on a set timetable. Anthropic has added scheduled tasks to Claude, letting the assistant run recurring work automatically inside Claude Cowork on a timetable you set. (support.claude.com) The feature appears in Anthropic’s April 2026 release notes, one week after Claude Cowork became generally available on macOS and Windows through the Claude Desktop app on April 9. (support.claude.com) Anthropic says scheduled tasks are available on all paid Claude plans — Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise — and can use the same connected tools, skills, and plugins as other Cowork tasks. (support.claude.com) Cowork is Anthropic’s agent mode for desktop: instead of answering one prompt at a time, Claude can take a multi-step job, work through it, and return finished files, research, or summaries later. Anthropic says the product uses the same agentic architecture as Claude Code, but for knowledge work outside the terminal. (support.claude.com) Scheduled tasks turn that setup into a recurring workflow. Anthropic’s examples include daily briefings from Slack, email, or calendars, weekly reports from spreadsheets and Google Drive, recurring web research, and periodic file cleanup. (support.claude.com) The automation still depends on a local machine. Anthropic says tasks run only while the user’s computer is awake and the Claude Desktop app is open; if a run is missed, Cowork skips it and retries when the computer wakes or the app reopens. (support.claude.com) That design keeps the feature closer to a supervised desktop agent than a fully cloud-hosted assistant. Anthropic also says Cowork stores conversation history locally on the computer, and warns Team and Enterprise customers not to use Cowork for regulated workloads. (support.claude.com) The same April push also adds more control for companies buying Claude at work. Team admins can already manage centralized billing and role-based permissions, while Enterprise customers get audit logs, custom retention controls, and usage billed separately at standard application programming interface rates. (support.claude.com, support.claude.com) For individual users, Anthropic’s current pricing page lists Pro at $20 a month, Max 5x at $100 a month, and Max 20x at $200 a month. Team starts at five members, with standard seats listed at $25 per user monthly or $20 billed annually. (support.claude.com, support.claude.com) The result is a more explicit shift from chat toward delegated work: describe the task once, approve the setup, and let Claude run it again on schedule from your desktop.
