*Whatever's Clever*, set for a March 27, 2026 release, is Puth's fourth studio album and follows 2022's *Charlie*. The new record is co-produced by Puth himself alongside BloodPop, known for his work with Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber. The album's direction was partly influenced by a lyric in Taylor Swift's song "The Tortured Poets Department," where she sings, "We declared Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist." Puth stated the shout-out served as affirmation and inspired him to be more open in his music, with one of the album's tracks even titled "I Used to Be Cringe." Puth and his wife, Brooke Sansone, are expecting their first child in March 2026. He officially announced the pregnancy to the public during an appearance on *The Tonight Show* after hinting at it in the music video for his single "Changes." For this album, Puth has said he reversed his usual creative process, putting life experiences first and letting the music follow, describing the songwriting as being like therapy sessions that happened to have a melody. The 12-track album features a wide array of guest appearances, including Kenny G, Coco Jones, Ravyn Lenae, and Michael McDonald. Other notable collaborators listed on the tracklist include Kenny Loggins and actor Jeff Goldblum. In a recent move tying into his new music, Puth was named Chief Music Officer for the AI music platform Moises. As part of the partnership, he launched a remix competition for his song "Beat Yourself Up," another track from the upcoming album.
