Hutto voters will pick two City Council members on Saturday, May 2, with Place 1 and Place 4 both on the ballot. (huttotx.gov) The city says polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day, and early voting runs from April 20 through April 28. Williamson County says there is no voting on April 21 or April 26. (huttotx.gov) (wilcotx.gov) Place 1 is the larger field. Jerrel W. Reynolds, Sarosh Jafri, Brandy McCool and Luiz Dunham are listed by the city as the candidates who will appear on the ballot. (huttotx.gov) (communityimpact.com) Place 4 is a two-candidate race between Corina Zepeda and Brandon DeLeon. Community Impact reported the winner will replace Peter Gordon, who is term-limited after three terms under the city charter. (huttotx.gov) (communityimpact.com) The election will help fill two seats at a time when Hutto is dealing with fast population growth and the cost of infrastructure. In candidate questionnaires, contenders in both races repeatedly pointed to roads, water, wastewater and growth management as top issues. (communityimpact.com 1) (communityimpact.com 2) The Place 1 seat is open after Brian Thompson resigned in December, and Charles Warner was later appointed to finish the remainder of the term. Taylor Press reported Warner said he did not plan to run in the May election. (communityimpact.com) (taylorpress.net) Voting rules are set by Williamson County, not just the city. The county elections office says countywide voting is in effect, so registered voters can use any polling location in Williamson County on Election Day. (wilcotx.gov) The county also lists April 20 as the deadline for ballot-by-mail applications to be received, and April 2 as the voter registration deadline for the May 2 election. Those dates have already passed as Election Day approaches. (wilcotx.gov) Hutto’s election page links voters to county sample ballots, early voting sites and Election Day locations. By Saturday night, those two races will decide who takes one open seat and who succeeds a term-limited council member. (huttotx.gov) (communityimpact.com)
