Turnkey Linux Stack Promises 9x Faster AI Deployment

Rocky Linux now integrates the complete NVIDIA AI stack, a combination that its developer CIQ claims allows for the deployment of production-ready AI workloads nine times faster than before. For platforms onboarding newsrooms, such turnkey stacks can significantly streamline infrastructure management and accelerate time-to-value.

This collaboration makes Rocky Linux the first distribution licensed to deliver NVIDIA's complete AI and networking software stack out-of-the-box. The integration goes beyond just the CUDA Toolkit, bundling in NVIDIA DOCA OFED support to address critical networking and interconnect capabilities required for large-scale clusters. The move is designed to solve the dual challenges of deploying complex AI software with its driver conflicts and then scaling from a single development node to production clusters with thousands of GPUs. CIQ's internal benchmarks claim the pre-built environment reduces setup for a Hugging Face LLM workload from a typical 30 minutes to just three. CIQ is the founding support and services partner for Rocky Linux, an enterprise operating system created to be 100% bug-for-bug compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). The project was started by Gregory Kurtzer, the original founder of CentOS, after that project shifted its focus away from being a stable RHEL rebuild. By engineering a cohesive platform, the goal is to provide an "appliance-like experience," removing infrastructure configuration as a barrier for developers. This allows teams to access GPU acceleration with full licensing compliance and professional support without needing specialized expertise in manual installation and validation. The inclusion of the DOCA OFED networking drivers is critical for scaling, as network optimization and GPU-to-GPU communication become significant bottlenecks in multi-node deployments. This directly supports enterprise-grade servers from Dell, HPE, and others that require sophisticated networking for efficient multi-GPU communication. Rocky Linux has become the fastest-growing Enterprise Linux distribution, accounting for over 40% of all downloads from the Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux (EPEL) repository. While other distributions like SUSE and Ubuntu also offer CUDA integration, CIQ's inclusion of the complete networking stack is a key differentiator.
