OCVibe Development Names Food Hall 'Katella Commons'
The major OCVibe development in Orange County has announced the name of its food hall will be Katella Commons. The 50,000-square-foot market hall will be situated within a section of the project called The Weave. It is planned to feature a wide variety of culinary offerings.
- The $4 billion OCVibe project is a 100-acre mixed-use development in Anaheim, privately funded by Henry and Susan Samueli, the owners of the Anaheim Ducks. The project is centered around the Honda Center and is expected to be largely completed by the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. - Katella Commons is scheduled to open in early 2027 as part of the project's first phase. This initial phase also includes a 5,700-seat concert hall, five other restaurants, and an urban park. - The Weave, the building housing Katella Commons, is a six-story, 168,000-square-foot structure notable for being Orange County's first mass timber office building, a more sustainable alternative to steel construction. - In addition to more than 20 food stalls, Katella Commons will feature six distinct bar and lounge concepts, including a beer garden called Rea's Ranch, a wine-cave-inspired tasting bar named Bar Bacchia, and the gin-focused Vesper Lounge. - Renowned French-born chef Rémi Lauvand has been brought on as a culinary advisor to shape the overall direction and chef-driven experience of the food hall. The first announced culinary partner is chef Debbie Lee, who will open two Korean food stalls. - The overall OCVibe development is projected to generate approximately $9.2 to $10 million in annual tax revenue for the city of Anaheim and create 10,000 construction jobs and over 3,000 permanent jobs. - Beyond the food hall, the master plan for OCVibe includes 1,500 residential units (with 15% designated for affordable housing), two hotels, 20 acres of public park space, and a potential future gondola system connecting to other key Anaheim locations.
