Circa Survive Adds Two More Reunion Shows
Beloved alt-rock band Circa Survive sold out their initial reunion show immediately and added two more dates to meet overwhelming demand. The group's return is being celebrated as a major event in the emo/alternative scene.
The band's reunion comes after a tumultuous period that led to their indefinite hiatus in 2022, a situation frontman Anthony Green later described as a "breakup." The hiatus was largely prompted by Green's relapse and mental health crisis, which occurred just before a planned 10-year anniversary tour for their album *Blue Sky Noise*. The strain of the pandemic and the canceled tour, coupled with personal struggles including drummer Steve Clifford also entering rehab, contributed to the band's decision to part ways. During the hiatus, vocalist Anthony Green remained musically active, fronting the supergroup L.S. Dunes, reactivating his other project The Sound of Animals Fighting, and continuing his solo career. Bassist Nick Beard transitioned to a role behind the scenes, working as a guitar tech for bands like Panic! at the Disco and Pierce the Veil. Guitarist Colin Frangicetto focused on his work as a visual artist. The newly announced shows are a celebration of the 20th anniversary of Circa Survive's debut album, *Juturna*. This seminal 2005 record is considered a landmark in the post-hardcore and emo scenes, praised for its intricate guitar work and Green's distinctive vocals. The album's enduring popularity is a major driver for the high demand for these reunion performances. The initial reunion show was announced for The Fillmore in Philadelphia, a venue with a capacity of around 2,500 for its main hall. The immediate sell-out of this performance, and the subsequent addition of two more dates at the same venue, underscores the dedicated fanbase the band has maintained throughout their hiatus. Fan reactions on social media were swift and ecstatic, with many expressing their surprise and joy with comments like, "CIRCA SURVIVED THE HIATUS!"
