Aer Lingus cancels 500+

Aer Lingus is cutting more than 500 flights in the coming weeks after pulling aircraft for mandatory maintenance during the start of its summer schedule. Aer Lingus said the “vast majority” of affected customers will be moved onto same-day services. Seattle, San Francisco, Minneapolis and Toronto are among the long-haul routes facing reductions. In September, it announced its “largest ever” transatlantic summer schedule, including a new Dublin-Raleigh-Durham route and extra frequencies to New York, Boston, Nashville, Indianapolis and Orlando. That left the airline trying to grow while also taking aircraft out of service for maintenance. The International Air Transport Association said aircraft deliveries fell to 1,254 in 2024, about 30% below pre-Covid peaks, while the global backlog rose to a record 17,000 jets.
