Flox Intelligence Raises $3M for Wildlife AI

Flox Intelligence has raised $3 million to scale its AI platform that uses real-time location and sensor data for wildlife monitoring. The technology aims to help prevent human-wildlife conflicts and has broader applications in smart cities and infrastructure security, showing continued investor interest in spatial AI for non-traditional markets.

The latest $3 million Seed+ funding for Flox Intelligence was led by Tilia Impact Ventures with notable participation from Satgana, GENIUS NY, and J.O.S.S. Existing investors, including Unconventional Ventures and Almi Invest, also contributed to the round announced on February 25, 2026. The company was co-founded by CEO Sara Nozkova and Tomas Becklin, spinning out of an AI research lab at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm in 2020. While its R&D team remains in Stockholm, Flox recently relocated its commercial headquarters to New York to better serve its expanding North American market. Flox's core technology utilizes a combination of AI, bioacoustics, and applied wildlife science to "speak" with animals and guide them away from high-risk zones. This approach moves beyond traditional, reactive deterrents like fences and scare tactics. The system is designed to be proactive and learn over time to prevent animals from becoming accustomed to it. Their flagship product, the Edge, is an autonomous, solar-powered device that operates 24/7 in harsh environments. These units have already logged over 60,000 wildlife events across 27 different species, demonstrating measurable reductions in wildlife presence in protected areas. The scale of the problem is significant, with wildlife-vehicle collisions in the U.S. alone costing over $10 billion annually. In aviation, wildlife strikes result in an estimated $1 billion to $1.5 billion in global losses each year from damage and delays. Flox is already working with a range of partners including the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Gerald R. Ford International Airport, and European mining leader Boliden. They also have a global partnership with Alstom, a major player in rail transportation.
