Adobe launches Firefly Assistant

Adobe introduced the Firefly AI Assistant, a conversational agent designed to let users describe outcomes in plain language and orchestrate multi-step workflows across Adobe apps. Adobe has launched Firefly AI Assistant, a chat-based tool that can carry out multi-step jobs across Photoshop, Premiere, Lightroom, Illustrator, Express, and Firefly. (blog.adobe.com) Adobe announced the product on April 15, 2026, and said it is “coming soon” to Firefly, its web-based creative artificial intelligence studio. The company said the assistant will enter public beta in the coming weeks. (news.adobe.com) (techcrunch.com) The basic idea is simple: instead of clicking through menus in several apps, a user types the result they want, and the assistant handles the steps in between. Adobe said users can still interrupt, adjust outputs, and use buttons and sliders while the system works. (blog.adobe.com) (techcrunch.com) Adobe is trying to turn Creative Cloud from a bundle of separate apps into one conversational layer. The company said the assistant can keep context across sessions, so a project’s prior choices do not have to be re-entered each time. (blog.adobe.com) (thenextweb.com) The launch extends a strategy Adobe has been building for months around “agentic” software, which means systems that take a goal and complete several actions on a user’s behalf. Adobe first previewed the cross-app concept as Project Moonlight at Adobe MAX in October 2025. (blog.adobe.com 1) (blog.adobe.com 2) Adobe is making that push while rivals are also adding more automated design workflows. TechCrunch reported that Canva and Figma are both working on agent-style features, while Adobe argues its advantage is the number of professional tools it already owns. (techcrunch.com) The company has not said whether Firefly AI Assistant will cost extra beyond Firefly’s existing credit-based subscriptions. That leaves one of the biggest practical questions unresolved ahead of the beta. (techcrunch.com) Adobe paired the assistant launch with more Firefly updates, including expanded video and image editing tools and a roster of more than 30 creative artificial intelligence models. Adobe reported $23.77 billion in fiscal 2025 revenue, giving it room to keep spending on a market that is moving from single prompts to software that can finish a workflow. (news.adobe.com) (adobe.com) For Adobe users, the near-term test is whether typing “make this campaign package” is actually faster than opening six apps and doing it by hand. Adobe’s answer arrives when the public beta goes live in the next few weeks. (techcrunch.com) (news.adobe.com)
