CLEAR Partners with Mount Sinai for Patient Check-In
Biometric identity company CLEAR has announced a collaboration with Mount Sinai Health System in New York. The partnership will enable patients to use CLEAR's digital identity platform for streamlined check-ins and secure access to healthcare services, both online and in-person.
- This partnership makes Mount Sinai the first health system in New York City to deploy CLEAR's identity platform, which will be used by both patients and employees across its seven hospitals and over 400 outpatient sites. - The digital identity in healthcare market was valued at USD 3.5 billion in 2023 and is projected to reach over USD 8 billion by 2029, with a compound annual growth rate of 14.80%. - CLEAR's technology is certified for NIST Identity Assurance Level 2 (IAL2) and Authenticator Assurance Level 2 (AAL2), high-assurance standards considered foundational for the secure exchange of healthcare data. - Prior to this collaboration, CLEAR had already established a presence in the healthcare sector through partnerships with other major providers, including Hackensack Meridian Health, Tampa General Hospital, and an integration with the electronic health record company Epic. - The platform's integration with existing systems like patient portals and EHRs aims to reduce duplicate medical records and has previously enabled health systems to redirect thousands of staff hours toward patient care. - While expanding in healthcare, CLEAR has had a less impactful experience in the sports industry, where it has spent years trying to find a sustainable business model beyond expedited entry lanes and vaccine status verification. - The broader trend in healthcare is a shift toward patient-centric solutions, with biometric technologies like fingerprint, facial, and iris scanning seeing increased adoption to improve security and give patients more control over their health data.
